Mikko Heikkilä is fifth in the WRC2 category of Delfi Rally Estonia after Saturday. The challenges regarding the car setup and ruts were not solved for Saturday.
Finnish rally driver Mikko Heikkilä is running fifth in the WRC2 category of the Delfi Rally Estonia after two competitive days. After the challenges began on Friday evening, Saturday did not bring changes to the TGS Motorsport Skoda driver’s rally.
- We could not find a cure for the challenges on Friday. We were on pace for the first three stages, but after that we’ve been losing time. I cannot say exactly why, as I feel like we’ve been pushing and we haven’t made any big mistakes, just wide lines here and there occasionally but nothing major, Heikkilä commented.
- When there’s no ruts the splits are generally okay, but in the ruts we are losing time even though the feeling is OK. It might be related to the differentials, but we’ll see.
The event concludes on Sunday with two special stages and nearly 50 special stage kilometers. Heikkilä’s Sunday is partly about figuring out the cause for the event-long challenges.
- We’re trying some things out, even though the meaningful positions are a bit far. For sure, we’re pushing like we have thus far and try to come out on top. It’s unfortunate, but sometimes rallying is like this, Heikkilä stated.
