Mere 3,3 seconds separated Heikkilä from WRC Estonia's podium

ree

Mikko Heikkilä has finished fourth at the Delfi Rally Estonia’s WRC2 category. Gap to podium for the Skoda driver was mere 3,3 seconds, hampered by a time penalty suffered on Friday.

Mikko Heikkilä, alongside his co-driver Kristian Temonen, have finished fourth in the WRC2 category of Delfi Rally Estonia. The gap to podium was mere 3,3 seconds at the finish line, with a 10-second time penalty for jump start having an effect on the total time. Out of a total of 20 special stages, Heikkilä won five.

-To be honest, it felt like a long rally. We tried to push for a couple of days, but the Friday really cost us. The time penalty of Friday’s last stage was a costly one, and it’s not surprise to me that it was going to be a close one at the finish. But, there’s nothing we can do about it at the finish, Heikkilä said.

Delfi Rally Estonia represented one of two back-to-back fast gravel rallies of the season, followed by Heikkilä’s home event, Secto Rally Finland. A special thanks was handed out by Heikkilä to his team, TGS Motorsport, at the finish.

-We aren’t yet thinking of WRC Finland, as we try to settle down first. Again, big thanks to TGS team, not only the great work here, but especially fixing the car after Sardegna, Heikkilä thanked.

Heikkilä’s WRC2 programme continues at Secto Rally Finland from 31st of July to 3rd of August.
