Mikko Heikkiläs competitive season continues with the familiar Rallye Ciudad de Granada. Invited to the event by the organizers, Heikkilä competes with R5-spec Fabia and MRF tyres.
Mikko Heikkilä’s rally season continues in Spain with Rallye Ciudad de Granada contested this weekend. Upcoming event marks the Finn’s fourth entry into the event, invited by the rally organizers. The WRC2-driver embarks on the event this time with the original R5-spec Skoda Fabia to challenge the fastest of Spain’s gravel drivers.
- It’s a familiar event for me, as I’ve driven there three times before. The event has been fantastically organized every year with a lot of spectators. In addition of being able to drive, which is always beneficial, it’s good to be out there. It’s all positives going to the event, Heikkilä stated.
This year alongside the R5-spec Skoda, the first R5 car Heikkilä drove in his career, the Finn will be competing with MRF tyres for the first time.
- The car isn’t of the latest spec, but it’s not an issue at all. It’ll be interesting to get a grip of MRF’s tires, I’ve never driven with them. The goal is to get a good rhythm going, maximize the available stage kilometres, and give the other competitors a good run. We’ve been successful in the recent year and I believe we’ll be up to speed this year as well. A massive thank you for the organizers for the invitation, Heikkilä thanked.
With the experience of the last three events, Heikkilä is expecting surprisingly fast and enjoyable route.
- In the previous years the stages haven’t been the roughest, but of course comparing to Finnish roads they are rough. The stages run through olive fields and sides of mountains, but it’s still surprisingly fast. It’s easy to enjoy rallying here, Heikkilä smiled.
