Mikko Heikkilä is fourth in the WRC2 category after three competitive days at the Delfi Rally Estonia. Heikkilä’s penultimate day saw the Finn climb the leaderboards, as the gap to podium is 17,2 seconds.
Mikko Heikkilä and co-driver Kristian Temonen are running fourth in the WRC2 category after the penultimate day of Delfi Rally Estonia. Heikkilä, who started the day in seventh after a time penalty caught on Friday’s day-ending special stage, rose up to fourth with 60,19 special stage kilometres to go.
-Yesterday’s jump start is a baggage, otherwise the gap would obviously be smaller. Maybe we’ll gain the seconds back one way or another, you never know. The distance left might be too little, but we’ll give it a shot anyways, Heikkilä said.
Out of Saturday’s total of nine special stges, Heikkilä won two. Overall the day did not meet the TGS Motorsport Skoda-driver’s expectations.
-We’ve had a relatively solid and mistake-free run today, but we did not manage to close the gap enough. There were good stages too, but on one stage we lost surprisingly lot without a clear cause and one stage was cancelled right before us. That way we didn’t have the benefit of practising the stage once before the second pass, Heikkilä summed up.
The Delfi Rally Estonia concludes tomorrow 20th of July with three stages and a total of 60,19 special stage kilometres.
Delfi Rally Estonia is held 17th to 20th of July in Estonia. The event consists of 20 special stages and 308,35 special stage kilometres. The event is shown live at Rally.tv.
