Heikkilä’s opening day in WRC Sweden was a difficult one

Mikko Heikkilä is fourth in WRC2 in the Rally Sweden after Friday. The second day of the four-day rally was difficult for the Finn.

Finnish rally driver Mikko Heikkilä and co-driver Kristian Temonen are running 4th in WRC2 after two competition days. The TGS Motorsport Skoda-driver is trailing podium by 6.6 seconds. The longest day of the four-day rally was a difficult one.

-Not the beginning for the season we had hoped for. We’re struggling with the grip a lot, even though the car feels good to drive. If I push hard the car keeps hitting the snow banks, and if I back off, the time loss is greater, Heikkilä said.

The rally continues on Saturday with 102 special stage kilometres. The Finn is hoping to get on top of the situation and gaining more grip on the snowy stages of Umeå.

-It’s always a bit unpleasant to change the setup of the car in the middle of a rally, but we’ll try to figure something out. We don’t have too much experience of the new tires, so understanding where the grip is gained might be difficult. Luckily, we still have over half of the rally to go, Heikkilä reminded.

72. Rally Sweden continues on Saturday 15th of February with seven special stages and 101,96 special stage kilometres.
