Heikkilä ends the penultimate day of WRC Latvia in second position

Mikko Heikkilä is running second in the WRC2 category at Tet Rally Latvia. The Finn closed the gap slightly to the leader during Saturday’s stages.

Mikko Heikkilä and co-driver Kristian Temonen are running second in WRC2 after three competitive days in Tet Rally Latvia. Heikkilä, who started off cautiously on Thursday, climbed up to second on the third stage of the rally, and kept his positions during Saturday. The Step Five Motorsport driver’s gap to the front is 26,6 seconds.

-It’s been very even today, similar to ERC. We’ve been fighting for every tenth of a second. We lost a bit of time in the morning, I think I was too careful about something that wasn’t there, but the second half of the day was good, and we gained the lost time back. I’m happy with the day and succeeding on the city stage was the cherry on top, Heikkilä recapped.

The Toyota driver was on a good pace the whole day winning two of the nine stages. The trust for the Toyota enabled Heikkilä to be on attack mode the whole day.

-We had a few moments throughout the day, as there should be when fighting hard. We didn’t lose too much time on those. The car felt good, and the team performed flawlessly. Even the stages were fantastic, and it’s been a blast, Heikkilä joyed.

The final day of the event consists of four special stages. Heikkilä’s plan for Sunday is simple.

-We can’t afford to ease up, but if we can push a bit more then I’m happy!

Tet Rally Latvia concludes on 21st of July with four special stages and 64,08 special stage kilometres. The event is streamed live via Rally.tv.
