Mikko Heikkilä is running fourth in WRC2 after two competitive days. The Toyota-driver had a difficult Friday, and now sets out for a mission for podium for the two remaining days.
Mikko Heikkilä and co-driver Kristian Temonen are fourth in WRC2 after two competitive days in Secto Rally Finland. Heikkilä opened the rally cautiously in front of his home fans climbing up the standings all throughout the day. Friday proved to be a difficult one for the Step Five Motorsport-team’s Toyota driver.
-The beginning of the first stage of Friday, Laukaa, was a difficult one but the splits improved closer to the end. The front suspension of the car was too stiff for the conditions, but we managed to improve it for the second stage of the day. Afternoon’s second loop was a letdown. Driving felt fine to me and there weren’t too many places where I could have improved, of course some individual places but nowhere near as much as the stopwatch suggests. It’s frustrating, I don’t know what to do differently. I was expecting more for sure, Heikkilä sighed.
The mission for the longest day of the rally is to climb to the achievable podium places.
-It seems to me that we are now fighting for P3, which wasn’t our plan here. There’s not much else to do, I need to watch the recce videos of Saturday extra carefully and simply go again, Heikkilä expressed.
Secto Rally Finland continues on Saturday, 3rd of August, with six special stages and 144,22 special stage kilometres. The rally is shown via Rally.tv live streaming service.
